OCTOBER 12, 2003 – LEOMINSTER, MA – Eight contestants were on hand to participate in this annual event. The weather conditions were wet, very wet with temperatures in the fifties. An uncomfortable day but the show did go on.
At the end of round one, Lloyd Seymour had the lead posting an 830 point, three cut win. Mark Rudner and Joe Fustolo were just off that pace posting 725 point, two cut wins. In the first match of round two Mark Rudner got past Lloyd Seymour with a 620 point, one cut win. In the next match Neil Simpson got past Joe Fustolo by the same score, posting his second good score of the contest and moving into contention in the process. Going into round three Mark had 1345 points followed by Neil (1240pts), Lloyd (1130pts) and Joe (925pts). The first match of round three saw Mark Rudner and Neil Simpson fly buzzer to buzzer in an action filled match that Mark won two cuts to one. In the next match Lloyd moved into second place with a three cut win over Joe Fustolo. Following the completion of round three the contest was called, by consensus opinion, due to the cold persistent rain. The final order of finish was Mark Rudner (2070pts), Lloyd Seymour (1960pts), Neil Simpson (1640pts) and Jeff Vader (1230pts). Jeff, by virtue of his fourth place finish, also took home the Sportsman division “gold”.
Thanks go out to Lloyd Seymour who promoted and CD’ed this annual event. Also a special Thank You to Lloyd’s wife, Cheryl, who fed us at day’s end, great spread, and then sent every participant home with a homemade apple pie. Thank You Cheryl, you treat us much better then we deserve to be.
