Silver Lake Shootout
GLENN SIMPSON, JEFF VADER,
& BRIAN STAS
ARE TOP THREE
JAKE VADER WINS SPORTSMAN
OCTOBER 4, 2009- KINGSTON, MA - seven contestants were on hand for the first annual Silver Lake Shootout. The weather was mostly cloudy, seasonably warm with a light breeze. It was a great day for Formula GX combat.
In round one action Jeff Vader and Brian Stas set the pace with 725 point wins. They faced each other in round two and mid-aired about half way through their match. Meanwhile Neil Simpson had used wins over Joe Fustolo and Matt Stas to lead at the halfway point. Neil and Brian faced off to start round three. Neil cut off Brian’s stab, instead of his streamer, and this mid air, which happened early in the match, left four pilots closely bunched at the top. Glenn Simpson and Jeff Vader, who had flown to a one cut apiece round three draw were running first and second respectively. Neil was a close third with Brian just off his pace in fourth. In the first match of the final round Brian and Joe Fustolo flew to a 510 point draw. In the semi final Jeff got past his son Jake with a one cut win and in the final Glenn earned a one cut win over Neil. The final order of finish was Glenn (2175pts), Jeff (2055pts), Brian (1740pts), Neil (1645pts) and Matt (1625pts). Young Jake Vader took home the Sportsman “gold”.
Thank You to Brian Stas, who secured the site and thank you to everyone who shared in the judging.
