2009 Len Minick Memorial Combat Challenge

NEIL SIMPSON, CHRIS SARNOWSKI
& DAVE PARIZO ARE TOP THREE

SPORTSMAN TO JAKE VADER

JUNE 28, 2009 – EAST HAMPTON, CT – This was the sixth annual Len Minick Memorial Combat Challenge held in tribute to and in memory of our good friend and fellow competitor. The weather was partly cloudy, warm and humid with a threat of rain that, thankfully, never materialized. Seven contestants made the trip to the Salmon River State Forest and enjoyed a day of very competitive combat.

Round one saw Dave Parizo and Neil Simpson get off to a good starts each posting two cut wins.  Dave and Neil, faced off in round two and after some good action early, a mid air ended things. Meanwhile, Chris Sarnowski was posting his second good win, this one, a two cut to one victory over Glenn Simpson. This gave Chris the contest lead heading into round three. In round three Neil and Chris had a good match with Neil squeaking out a one cut win. In the round four semi-final match Dave and Chris had a war with Dave prevailing two cuts to one. In the final Neil faced off against Paul Kubek and  squeaked out, yet another, one cut victory. When the dust settled the final order of finish was Neil, Chris and Dave. The sportsman division winner was Jake Vader from Franklin, New Hampshire.

Thank You, to everyone who participated and to those who shared in the judging. A special thank you to Ernie Carosella who acted as head judge for the majority of the matches.
It was great to see Ernie again and also Dave Parizo, who was competing for the first time in a long time. Dave is a great pilot and certainly showed no signs of any rust.
