OCTOBER 15, 2006 – WORCESTER, MA -Eleven contestants were on hand for this, the eighteenth annual running of the Fall Finale Combat Tournament at Boynton Park in Worcester, Massachusetts. This contest was the thirteenth and final stop on this year’s New England Formula GX circuit, the end of the 2006 regular season. The weather was cool and breezy with temperatures toping out in the low sixties.

Round one got off to a low scoring start except for Dick Sherman who posted a thrre cut win. Round two saw Dick Sherman stay hot with a two cut win over Brian Stas while Jeff Vader was also looking good following one cut win over Conrad Wondolowski. Round three saw Brian Stas get a two cut to one win over Roy Glenn in a well flown match that was non-stop action. Round three also saw Neil Simpson earn a one cut win over Conrad Wondolowski. Going into the final round it was Dick with 1855 points followed by Brian (1740pts), Neil (1640pts) with Jeff, Ken Hargreaves and Roy all in the 1400 plus range. Early in round four Shay Vader jumped into contention with a two cut win over Conrad. Ken and Roy mid-aired in the next match knocking them out of contention. In the semi-final Brian Stas earned a one cut win over Jeff while the final saw Dick and Neil mid-air early in their match. When the dust had settled Brian had finished with 2360 points, Shay and Dick were tied for second with 1955 points while Jeff and Neil were tied for fourth with 1740 points. After a coin flip or two the final order of finish was Brian, Shay, Dick, Jeff and Neil. Shay, by virtue of her second place finish was also the sportsman division winner.
