2015 Eastern Mass Invitational
NEIL SIMPSON, PAUL KUBEK
AND BRIAN STAS ARE THE TOP THREE
May 24, 2015 - HALIFAX, MA – The weather was sunny, not a cloud in the sky, light breeze, cool when we first arrived and then very warm by mid-day. It was a great day for the first New England F2D contest of the season. Five pilots were in attendance. The grounds at the Wingbuster club field were manicured, as we’ve come to expect. We certainly appreciate the club’s willingness to share this fine facility with us.
After two rounds two pilots had been sent packing. Paul Kubek and Brian Stas were undefeated while Neil Simpson had one loss. Paul and Neil faced off and after one re-fly Neil got past Paul giving him his first loss. In the next match Paul got past Brian leaving all three remaining pilots at 2 wins and one loss. Next Brian and Neil had a non-stop well flown barn burner of a match that was certainly action filled. Neil squeaked by two cuts to one despite losing some airtime at the start. This left only Neil and Paul to fly for the contest win. Neil got a string cut early and then ran like a rabbit to preserve the match win and take home the “gold”.
