SEPTEMBER 19, 2004 - COLCHESTER, CT– Seven New England Formula GX combat flyers assembled, at the Bacon Academy, in Colchester, Connecticut, for the annual running of “The Clash at Colchester”. Weather conditions were sunny and cool, temperatures in the low sixties. Great day, except for a bothersome wind, that did cause a problem or two.

Round one saw Will Rogers get off to the best start, followed closely by Neil and Glenn Simpson. Round two started with Will earning a two cut to one win over Glenn . Next, Neil stayed in the hunt with a one cut win over Ken Hargreaves. Round two, also saw Mark Rudner get himself into contention with a one cut win over Rick Clark. Going into round three it was Will with 1350 points followed by Neil (1130pts), Mark (1030pts) and Glenn (910pts). The first match of this round saw Will and Neil fly to a one cut apiece draw in a hotly contested match. Mark then stayed in contention with an airtime win over Glenn.

As round four started Will had 1860 points, Neil had 1640 points and Mark had 1550 points. Meanwhile Rick Clark had turned in three solid flights and was within range with 1230 points. In the semi-final Neil and Rick flew to a one cut apiece draw. The final match was a war between Mark and Will, it started hot and heavy at the opening buzzer, each pilot earned a cut and then about three minutes in, a mid-air occurred. When the scores were added up the top four were Will (2160pts), Neil (2150pts), Mark (1850pts) and Rick (1740pts).
