AMA Rules Change Proposals for Control Line Combat
by Neil Simpson on 08/14/10
There are five combat rules change proposals that are in the rules change cycle now.
I need to cast a vote, as the representative for such things in District I.
Several week ago the initial vote was taken and just yesterday I gave Pat Wilcox our interim vote. ("yes" on all five)
The final vote is several weeks away and my "yes" votes can be changed if any of you guys think they should be. Give me feedback if you have interest or concerns regarding any of this.
The five proposals, in very brief format, are:
The competitor is solely responsible for the function of the fuel shut off device, in all events requiring same.
Change the equipment in event 328(fast combat) to F2D equipment (engine, line length, pull test etc).
Change event 329(slow combat) to speed limit(75mph) max .40 cubic inches.
Allow Gel Spun braided lines (Spectra(tm)) as an alternative to what we currently use.
Define 1/2A Combat into two groups, "Low Performance" to be plain bearing engines on a suction fuel system and 35' lines, "High Performance" allowing all other engine and fuel systems on 42' lines.
The complete proposals are available on line at the AMA website as a download.
I will also have a copy with me at the upcoming contests.
I voted "yes" given each very brief consideration in an effort to keep the process moving. I welcome your input and can/will adjust my votes if a majority of interested parties want me to. I wish is to represent you.
Thanks Neil
