SEPTEMBER 11, 2005 - COLCHESTER, CT– Eight New England Formula GX combat flyers assembled, at the Bacon Academy, in Colchester, Connecticut, for the annual running of  “The Colchester Combat Challenge”.  Weather conditions were sunny , temperatures in the low seventies and low humidity, a great day for combat.

Round one saw Brian Sras get off to the best start, followed closely by Neil and Glenn Simpson. Round two started with Brian earning a two cut to one win over Neil. Next, Glenn stayed in the hunt flying Mark Rudner to a one cut apiece draw. In the next match Rick Clark jumped into contention getting past Will Rogers two cuts to one. Going into round three it was Brian with 1450 points followed by Glenn (1130pts), Rick (1025pts) Neil (1020pts) and Mark (920pts). The first match of this round saw Brian stay hot outscoring Glenn two cuts to one. Next Neil got a one cut win over Rick while Mark improved his standing getting past Ken Hargreaves three cuts to one.

As round four started Brian had 2175 points, Mark had 1750pts, Neil had 1640 points and Glenn had 1530 points. Early in the round Will Rogers, who was climbing steadily, took the clubhouse lead with a win over Ken Hargreaves. In the semi-final match Glenn and Neil Simpson squared off with Neil just getting past Glenn two cuts to one. The final was a match between Mark and Brian that ended early with a fly-away that hurt both pilots cumulative scores.  When the scores were added up the top four were Brian (2375pts), Neil (2365pts), Will (1950pts) and Glenn (1930pts).
